Job summary

The Commonwealth-Lodging-Management-LL is hiring a Laundry Attendant for the Wyndham Garden Downtown Norfolk, VA. Maintain clean linens, towels, and uniforms to ensure guest comfort and hotel readiness.

You will operate commercial washers, dryers, and folding equipment, sort items by color and fabric, and follow sanitization procedures to keep laundry areas organized and fully stocked for the daily operations.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Laundry Operations

• Sort linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items by color, size, and fabric type
• Operate commercial washers, dryers, folding equipment, and pressing machines
• Fold, press, package, and prepare clean laundry for use throughout the hotel
• Follow proper sanitization and laundry processing procedures
• Load and unload commercial laundry equipment safely and efficiently

Inventory & Organization

• Maintain adequate supplies of detergent, bleach, fabric softener, laundry bags, and other essentials
• Keep laundry areas clean, organized, and fully operational
• Assist with stocking storage rooms and linen areas
• Distribute linens to designated hotel departments

Guest Service Support

• Deliver guest-requested items such as towels, cribs, and rollaway beds as needed
• Maintain positive guest interactions and confidentiality
• Respond professionally to guest concerns and requests
• Support hotel operations by maintaining clean and readily available linens at all times

Qualifications

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
• Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures and equipment usage
• Understanding of safe chemical handling practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous laundry or housekeeping experience
• Experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment
• Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Push and pull carts and equipment up to 100 pounds
• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
• Bend, reach, stretch, and perform repetitive motions
• Work in varying temperatures and noise levels
• Safely work around cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, and laundry equipment
