Carter Machinery is hiring for a Housekeeping & Facilities Maintenance role in Salem, VA. You will handle daily cleaning, basic maintenance, and setup for meetings while supporting landscaping and travel to other Carter facilities as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong time management and teamwork to ensure facilities are clean, safe, and well-presented.

Responsibilities

• Review daily maintenance tasks and prioritize work.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax, and buff floors.
• Wash and sanitize restrooms and fixtures.
• Pull trash, dust surfaces, and tidy spaces.
• Assist with landscaping, snow removal, and ice melt as needed.
• Stock supplies and maintain inventory for duties.
• Assist with setting up and tearing down rooms for meetings/events.
• Notify supervisor of deficiencies and repair needs.
• Collaborate with Facilities team on minor projects.
• Travel to off-site facilities to perform cleaning responsibilities.
• Support Continuous Improvement goals and team objectives.

Job Title: Housekeeping & Facilities Maintenance

Location: Salem, Virginia

Shift: 3rd

Starting Compensation Range: $16.80 - $21.12 per hour + Shift Differential

What You Will Do

• Review work to be completed each day and prioritize, coordinate, and obtain materials needed to complete requested and required maintenance in a timely manner
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax, and buff floors
• Wash and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors
• Pull trash, dust surfaces, wipe all touch points, and ensure chairs and tables are in their place
• Assist with maintenance of facility landscaping, snow removal, ice melt, as requested
• Stock and maintain supplies required to perform assigned duties
• Assist with setting up and tearing down rooms used for meetings and events
• Notify supervisor of occurring deficiencies or items in need of repair
• Work with Facilities team with minor facilities projects
• Travel to off‑site facilities to perform cleaning responsibilities
• Work in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Frequently sitting for extended periods of time
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
