Job summary

Olivia Hospital & Clinic in Minnesota seeks an Environmental Services Technician to maintain clean, safe environments in hospital and clinic settings. You will follow established procedures for cleaning, disposing, and moving materials, and help with Blood-Borne Pathogen precautions as required.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to follow work orders, flexible hours including weekends, and strong time-management in a dynamic hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to follow assigned work orders is required.
• Ability to work a variety of scheduled hours, including weekends and call-in shifts.
• Ability to work in a changing hospital environment and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Carry linens, towels, toiletries, and cleaning supplies on wheeled carts.
• Keep storerooms and carts stocked, clean, and organized.
• Sort and store linens in linen closets.
• Clean rooms, hallways, restrooms, and high-touch areas to meet health standards.
• Dispose of trash in appropriate areas.
• Sweep, scrub, and vacuum floors using brooms, mops, and vacuums.
• Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork as needed.
• Hang draperies and dust blinds as required.
• Disinfect equipment, furniture, and supplies per standards.
• Move furniture and turn mattresses to facilitate cleaning.
• Attend facility and department meetings as scheduled.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

ABOUT THE JOB

Environmental Services Technicians provide safe and sanitary surroundings for patients, employees, and the public in both hospital and clinic settings. Environmental Services Technicians must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, and moving of objects/materials. Environmental Services Technicians must also participate in the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, and/or body fluids containing blood in accordance with the OSHA Blood-Borne Pathogen Standard or Olivia Hospital & Clinic Exposure Control Plan for Blood-Borne Pathogens. This is a .3 posiiton

Responsibilities

• Carry linens, towels, toiletry items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.


• Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.


• Sort, count linens, and store them in linen closets.


• Clean rooms, hallways, waiting areas, restrooms, corridors, locker rooms, high touch areas and other assigned work areas so that applicable health standards are met.


• Dispose of trash or waste materials to appropriate disposal areas.


• Sweep, scrub, and vacuum floors using brooms, mops, and vacuums.


• Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork as necessary.


• Hang draperies and dust/wash window blinds as needed.


• Disinfect equipment, furniture, and supplies according to OHC standards.


• Move and arrange furniture and turn mattresses to effectively clean.


• Attend facility and department meetings as scheduled.


• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
