Summary

The primary purpose of the Housekeeping Director is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility. The Director will ensure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner, as directed by the Administrator and/or the Director of Environmental Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure work/cleaning schedules are followed closely.
• Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity.
• Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing staff during routine cleaning in resident areas.
• Clean, wash, sanitize, and polish fixtures, ledges, heating/cooling units, bathroom fixtures, etc.
• Maintain floors through sweeping, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
• Properly discard waste into appropriate containers and relining trash receptacles.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and report any suspected violations of protected health information.
• Follow safety precautions and proper techniques when handling chemicals and using equipment.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling hazardous materials.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding cleaning procedures.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with staff and handle residents appropriately based on their maturity level.
