The Opportunity

This position is based at our Lake Bluff, IL location in GES, Global Engineering Services.

As a Housekeeping Associate, you will perform facility cleaning and support required for manufacturing and research environments at Abbott Lake County. You must adhere to quality and regulatory standards (GMPs, SOPs, DEA, OSHA, DEP, and Abbott standards). Daily tasks include cleaning in production laboratories, support laboratories, research labs, and common areas such as lavatories, offices, and break rooms.

What You’ll Work On

• Perform daily housekeeping tasks based on area needs.
• Conduct cross-contamination cleaning in areas with radioactive or biohazardous materials or requiring microbial control.
• Prepare radioactive and biohazard housekeeping equipment for autoclaving or disposal.
• Prepare floors and walls for autoclaving in microbial-controlled areas.
• Monitor waste for radioactive contamination and identify biohazardous waste.
• Dispose of waste from laboratories and support areas.
• Complete GMP documentation, work orders, and training logs.
• Operate handheld electronic documentation units for GMP compliance.
• Prepare cleaning solutions following GMP instructions.
• Perform microbial control cleaning on walls, ceilings, and floors per GMP guidelines.
• Complete preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment.
• Operate various cleaning and maintenance equipment, including battery-powered and ride-on scrubbers and burnishers.
• Support recycling programs and operate baling and compacting equipment.
• Perform occasional duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; must complete initial training at Abbott.
• Ability to read and understand quality documents, SOPs, safety guidelines, and operating procedures.
• Accurate record-keeping in compliance with GMP standards.
• Ability to operate a computer for training, documentation, and data entry into the CMMS.

The base pay for this position is $15.45 – $28.45 per hour. In specific locations, pay may vary from this range.
