The Opportunity

This position is based at our Lake Bluff, IL location within the Global Engineering Services (GES) team.

As a Housekeeping Associate, you will perform facility cleaning and support activities necessary for manufacturing and research environments at Abbott Lake County. This role requires adherence to quality and regulatory standards (GMPs, SOPs, DEA, OSHA, DEP, and Abbott standards). You will perform regulated cleaning procedures in areas such as production laboratories, manufacturing support laboratories, research laboratories, and common support areas including lavatories, offices, and break rooms.

What You’ll Work On

• Perform daily cleaning tasks based on specific area needs, including cross-contamination cleaning in areas with radioactive or biohazardous materials or requiring microbial control.
• Prepare radioactive and biohazardous housekeeping equipment for autoclaving or disposal.
• Clean floors and walls using appropriate methods, including autoclaving in microbial-controlled areas.
• Monitor waste for radioactive contamination and identify biohazardous waste.
• Handle and dispose of waste from laboratories and support areas.
• Complete GMP documentation, including logs, work orders, and training records, using electronic documentation tools.
• Prepare cleaning solutions according to GMP regulations.
• Perform microbial control cleaning on walls, ceilings, and floors as per GMP schedules and guidelines.
• Complete preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment, including battery checks, filter replacements, and adjustments.
• Support recycling programs for glass, paper, plastic, and other materials.
• Operate equipment such as floor scrubbers, sweepers, and burnishers, ensuring proper maintenance.
• Perform occasional duties not explicitly listed but related to housekeeping.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; must complete initial training at Abbott Lake County site.
• Ability to read and understand corporate quality documents, SOPs, safety guidelines, and operating instructions.
• Ability to accurately complete and maintain written records in compliance with GMP standards.
• Proficiency in operating a computer for training, documentation, and data synchronization.
