Job summary

Imperial-Healthcare-Center in California is seeking a full-time Housekeeper for the hospital's housekeeping and laundry areas. The role requires reliable transportation, good communication, and the ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds, with shifts including 10AM-7PM on Sun-Mon and 3PM-7PM on Tue/Wed/Fri.

You will perform daily room cleaning, assist with laundry tasks, and learn all run details under supervision.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in working in large hospital, institution or health facility laundry is desirable but not mandatory
• Ability to understand instructions in English and complete tasks as assigned.
• Ability to read posted instructions for use of washers, dryers, pressers, etc.
• Clean, neat appearance.
• Dependability.
• Able to stand and walk most of the day and lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to perform simple repetitive tasks on a continuous basis

REPORTING:

The Housekeeping and Laundry reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

JOB DUTIES:

• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have good communication skills:
  • Must be available to work 24 hrs. 7days a week, with the exception of 8 hours in between each shift, and if not available a callback within the hour and/or notice is required failure to comply will result in disciplinary action.
  • Must have a phone consistently available to them.
  • Must supply staff coordinator “Housekeeping supervisor” with a current phone number at all times.
• Must have full knowledge of all job details of all runs of Housekeeping and Laundry after training of every run. This requirement will be at the Housekeeping supervisor and Environmental specialist discretion.
• Failure to cover shift more than three “excused or not” time in a six month period will result in disciplinary action.
• All other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Administrator.

Housekeeping Duties:

• Clean resident rooms daily according to established facility procedures and cleaning schedules.
• Clean other areas of facility daily as assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Assist Housekeeping Supervisor with weekly and monthly major housekeeping tasks when requested to do so.

• Pick up dirty linens from linen storage areas and transport to laundry room ensuring separation of load to safe amount prior to lifting.
• Sort the dirty linens prior to washing.
• Remove clean linen from dryer, fold and transport to clean linen storage areas according to established facility procedures.
• Clean the laundry room at the end of each shift.
• Attend in-service training as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor
