Job summary

Elderwood at Burlington is seeking a Housekeeping Aide to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across a 150-bed facility serving orthopedic rehabilitation and long‑term care. Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Custodial, janitorial, housekeeping and/or laundry experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of general areas and assigned rooms of residents.
  • Help move personal belongings of residents and clean and disinfect floor, furniture, bed and bathroom according to accepted procedures when a resident is discharged or transferred to another room.
  • Follow safety rules and monitor fire regulations and hazards as stated in procedures.
  • Practice infection control principles in cleaning methods and personal hygiene.
  • Keep cleaning compounds and hazardous substances stored properly to protect residents and staff.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and other refuse in a manner that prevents disease transmission and does not create a nuisance or fire hazard.

Position Overview

Housekeeping Aides are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, offices, and treatment spaces. Your work helps ensure residents feel comfortable while supporting infection prevention and overall health and safety standards.

What You’ll Do
  • Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, and common areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, furniture, and high‑touch surfaces
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times
  • Handle cleaning supplies and chemicals safely and properly
  • Assist with room turnover after discharges or transfers
  • Collect and dispose of trash and waste in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Support a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors
  • Follow all fire safety and facility safety guidelines
