Position Overview

Housekeeping Aides are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, offices, and treatment spaces. The role ensures residents feel comfortable while supporting infection prevention and overall health and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, and common areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, furniture, and high‑touch surfaces
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times
  • Handle cleaning supplies and chemicals safely and properly
  • Assist with room turnover after discharges or transfers
  • Collect and dispose of trash and waste in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Support a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors
  • Follow all fire safety and facility safety guidelines
  • Help move personal belongings of residents when a resident is discharged or transferred to another room
  • Maintain vigilance concerning fire regulations and hazards as stated in procedures
  • Practice infection control principles in cleaning methods and personal hygiene
  • Store cleaning compounds and hazardous substances properly for the protection of residents and staff
  • Prevent the transmission of disease and avoid creating fire hazards or breeding places for insects and rodents through proper disposal of trash and refuse
Qualifications
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Custodial, janitorial, housekeeping and/or laundry experience preferred
  • Individuals under 18 years of age must be excluded from the usage of dangerous equipment such as compactors
  • Regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors; must read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level
