Job summary

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role supports infection prevention through cleaning and proper waste handling in both patient and non-patient areas.

The position is onsite, primarily day shift with a 40-hour work week, and does not involve direct patient care. Comprehensive benefits and ongoing training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Experience 0-1 year preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and how to apply chemicals safely.
  • Working knowledge of various cleaning tools like vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect patient and non-patient areas according to established schedules and infection prevention standards.
  • Remove and properly dispose of waste, including regulated medical waste, following hospital policies and procedures.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed to support department operations.
  • Operate environmental services equipment, including floor machines, buffers, and other cleaning equipment.
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and ongoing training, attending a minimum of eight department meetings annually.
  • Support a positive patient and visitor experience by ensuring a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained healthcare environment.
