Job summary

West Chicago Living and Rehab Center LLC in Wheaton, IL is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.

The role includes cleaning bathrooms, resident rooms, and common areas, while following infection control practices. The shift is 7 am to 3 pm, with every other weekend, and interactions with nursing staff to support turnover and resident care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures; remove water marks.
• Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, common areas, entrances.
• Clean floors: sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, disinfecting.
• Vacuum/shampoo carpets; deodorize and disinfect surfaces.
• Clean walls/ceilings; dust, wipe, and disinfect surfaces.
• Remove dirt, grease, and disinfect surfaces as needed.
• Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.
• Discard waste and reline trash receptacles with liners.
• Maintain an organized work area; store equipment properly.
• Follow infection control and standard precautions when housekeeping.
• Use protective clothing/devices when handling infectious waste or fluids.
• Coordinate daily housekeeping with nursing staff and assist with room turnover.
• Report hazards to supervisor and attend department meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures and ensure water marks are removed from fixtures
• Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways
• Clean floors, including sweeping, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting in accordance with proper safety precautions
• Clean carpets, including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing
• Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions
• Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators
• Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners
• Maintain a clean and organized work/assignment area and properly store equipment, tools, and supplies
• Follow established infection control and standard precaution practices when performing housekeeping procedures
• Use protective clothing/devices when performing tasks involving the handling of infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids
• Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services and perform routine cleaning procedures when a resident is discharged or transferred to another room
• Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to the housekeeping supervisor and attend housekeeping department meetings as directed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Long-term care experience preferred
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
