Job summary

St. Michael’s Hospital Avera is seeking dedicated housekeeping staff to join our day shift on a PRN basis in Tyndall, SD. You will help maintain a clean, safe environment across patient rooms, offices, hallways and public spaces, contributing to high-quality patient care.

You will dust, mop, allocate supplies, and ensure confidentiality of patient information. Training provided; team-oriented setting with supportive colleagues and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospital or healthcare cleaning is preferred.
• Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Discretion with patient information and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Mantains clean and neat areas including patient rooms, offices, and common spaces.
• Performs dusting, mopping, trash removal, linen handling.
• Mantains stocked supply carts with towels and paper products.
• Washes beds and remakes after patient discharge.
• Mantains patient and staff confidentiality at all times.

Position Highlights

Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in assigned areas which may include, but not be limited to: patient rooms, terminals, offices, nurse's stations, clinic, laboratory, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobby areas. Supports the hospital's goal of excellence in patient care by facilitating positive employee relations and supporting department goals. Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains a clean/neat environment in working area. These areas may include, but not be limited to: patient rooms, terminals, offices, nurse's stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobby areas.


• Participates in all cleaning activities as assigned. These may include, but not be limited to: dusting, washing, waxing, drying, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, moving furniture, and emptying trash.


• Keeps assigned area fully stocked with supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, etc.


• Responsible for maintaining stock on individual cleaning carts including wet and dry supplies.


• May sort, wash, and accurately deliver linens.


• Washes beds and mattresses, and remakes beds after dismissal of patients.


• Maintain good customer relations at all times.


• Able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with data related to patients, physicians, co-workers and any other hospital information.
