Job summary

• Prepare and maintain cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, furnishings, and fixtures.
• Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, waxing, and disinfecting.
• Vacuum carpets and upholstery as required.
• Clean walls, ceilings, and surfaces; remove dirt and grime.
• Handle waste and infectious waste according to policy.
• Respect resident privacy and confidentiality.
• Report supply needs and maintenance issues to supervisor.
• Empty and clean carts and equipment after use.

• Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
• Coordinate daily housekeeping duties with nursing services when performing routine cleaning in resident living areas
• Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner
• Assure that established infection control and universal practices are maintained when performing housekeeping duties
• Keep work areas free of hazardous objects
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies
• Keep supervisor informed of supply needs
• Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc. as necessary or directed
• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned
• Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily assignments
• Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc. in resident rooms, recreational areas, etc. daily as instructed
• Clean , wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures
• Clean floors, to include sweeping ,dusting, damp/wet mopping, striping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.
• Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting, etc.
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.
• Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions
• Discard waste trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liners
• Clean vacant rooms as assigned
• Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers
• Maintain the confidentiality of resident information
• Honor the residents' personal and property rights
• Turn in all found articles to the charge nurse
