Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs in Hastings is seeking a full-time Housekeeper / General Maintenance Worker to join the Minnesota Veterans Home - Hastings Domiciliary. You will perform housekeeping duties, maintain floors and rooms, assist with linen distribution, and support veteran residents in a care-friendly environment.

Work hours are 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday with a weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of different types of flooring and appropriate cleaning methods.
• Safe handling of chemical cleaning agents like ammonia, bleaches, soaps.
• Familiarity with maintenance tools and minor repairs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floors and hallways by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, stripping, and vacuuming.
• Clean windows, ceilings and walls using appropriate agents and methods.
• Clean and maintain rooms and furniture; move and rearrange as needed; perform minor repairs.
• Clean restrooms and manage supplies; empty trash as required.
• Manage sidewalks by shoveling snow and applying sand/de-icers; remove debris.
