Position Summary:
Responsible for keeping all areas of the facility neat and clean and ensuring all sorting and washing of garments, linens, and other items is completed daily.
Major Duties and Critical Tasks:
- Ensure that all areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner; that all staff has the appropriate training, equipment, and supplies to successfully execute this responsibility.
- Ensure appropriate techniques are followed when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning/laundry prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals.
- Ensure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing housekeeping/laundry functions.
- Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services. Perform isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures.
- Make decisions that reflect both knowledge and good judgment.
- Show evidence of awareness of own limitations and seek assistance when necessary.
- Adhere to dress code and facility attendance policy.
- Attend committee meetings, if assigned. Report related to the committee during staff meetings.
- Take responsibility for own professional growth. Attend and participate in all scheduled training, educational and orientation classes, programs, and activities including annual mandatory classes.
- Follow work schedules and complete assigned tasks according to the established standards of the facility.
- Review staff concerns in a timely manner. Keep the Director of Facilities and Grounds informed of any area of concern.
- Maintain established goals for employee turnover and retention in conjunction with the human resources department and Director of Facilities and Grounds.
Human Relations:
- Demonstrate a positive working relationship with patients/residents, visitors, and facility staff.
- Acknowledge authority and exhibit appropriate response to the direction of supervisors.
- Spend time with patients/residents rather than other personnel.
- Readily assist co-workers as needed.
HOUSEKEEPING AIDE QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED Preferred
- Experience not required
