Market Street Viera is looking for a Housekeeper to join their team! Maintain the luxuriousness, cleanliness, and comfort of our beautiful Watercrest community by performing day-to-day housekeeping in resident apartments, common areas, and back of house areas. As a key member of the team, you will also closely manage cleaning supplies and equipment – ensuring that resident safety is of top priority.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Follow the guidelines of the Watercrest Housekeeping Handbook.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appealing appearance of the front area of the community.
- Maintain cleanliness of all public and staff areas throughout the community.
- Maintain cleanliness in all occupied resident apartments.
- Maintain cleanliness in all unoccupied resident apartments.
- Maintain cleanliness in all model apartments.
- Responsible for completing any special projects assigned by the Environmental Services Director.
- Ensure uniforms are clean, stain-free, pressed, with no missing buttons, rips, or tears. Your dress and appearance should always reflect professionalism. Appearance impacts the impression you make on residents, their families, co-workers, and visitors.
- Adhere to safety protocols while performing tasks and operating equipment.
- Handle proper disposal of trash, waste, and other materials.
- Perform damp dusting of furniture, fixtures, windowsills, pictures, and wall hangings.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect wash basins, mirrors, commodes, tubs, and showers.
- Inspect and clean unoccupied apartments to ensure they are fresh and ready for new residents.
- Conduct twice daily cleaning of public restrooms and address additional needs as they arise.
- Maintain cleanliness in storage areas and ensure housekeeping carts are secured when not in use.
- Properly dispose of soiled/contaminated linen as required.
- Follow a schedule for washing windows and cleaning air vents.
- Perform laundry duties as per the Watercrest Housekeeping Handbook.
- Uphold infection control practices.
- Report hazardous conditions, equipment issues, building deficiencies, and incidents promptly to the supervisor.
- Safeguard residents' personal information and respect their property rights.
- Create a homelike atmosphere, encouraging residents to enjoy their living environment.
- Keep common areas clean and inviting for residents, families, and visitors.
- Engage with residents and families in a friendly manner to foster relationships.
- Communicate needs and issues with Environmental Services Director and care staff.
- Always be in uniform and resident-ready.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Effective communication with management, team members, residents, families, vendors, and outside contacts.
- Ability to make independent, informed decisions.
- Warm, friendly, and caring communication style.
- Passion for working with seniors.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
- Valid driver’s license required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a housekeeper in a multi-unit community or hotel environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to concentrate amid interruptions and work under stress.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, pull, push, and grasp.
- Capability to climb ladders, bend, crawl into tight spaces.
- Effective talking and hearing to communicate instructions and information.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PPE:
- Expect to encounter blood or infectious materials and use PPE accordingly to protect against hazards.
