Job Description

SUMMARY: Keeps premises of office building, apartment house, or other commercial or institutional building in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• 1. Cleans and polishes lighting fixture, marble surfaces, and trim.
• 2. Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
• 3. Sweeps mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space.
• 4. Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
• 5. Dusts furniture and equipment.
• 6. Polishes metalwork.
• 7. Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
• 8. Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
• 9. Empties trash and garbage containers.
• 10. Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• 11. Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• 12. Replaces light bulbs.
• 13. Cuts and trims grass, if required.
• 14. Delivers messages.
• 15. Transports small equipment or tools between departments.

COMPETENCY

EDUCAION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
