Job summary

AdventHealth in Ottawa, KS is hiring a full-time Housekeeper to maintain cleanliness and sanitation across patient and public areas. The role requires daily cleaning, waste disposal, inventory stocking, and adherence to infection control standards.

The position operates 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with every other weekend shifts. Prior housekeeping or custodial experience in healthcare is preferred, and basic computer skills are expected. Compensation ranges from $15.96 to $25.54 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer skills and use of mouse and keyboard.
  • Must be able to operate a computer using standard office software.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact with patients.
  • Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets and product labels; perform basic arithmetic.
  • Must follow oral and written assignments and have knowledge of basic environmental duties.
  • Environment experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Knowledge of additional languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans assigned patient and public areas daily, including collecting and removing trash and sanitizing all surfaces.
  • Stocks paper items, cleaning solutions and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, isolation procedures, and proper operation of cleaning equipment; performs other duties as assigned.
  • Uses Bed Management system to maintain productive bed throughput, using hand-held technology for tracking.
  • Operates cleaning equipment and carts; handles janitorial supplies.
  • Collects and stages soiled linen for pickup.
  • Disposes of normal and biohazardous waste.
  • Cleans and disinfects areas containing bodily fluids per facility standards.
  • Documents all work performed.
  • Accesses ancillary units, restrooms, offices in assigned areas.

  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field [Required]
