Job summary

The University System of New Hampshire is seeking a diligent custodian to perform routine cleaning in residential hall bathrooms and common areas, including laundry rooms, corridors, and lounges on campus in Durham. Must follow approved cleaning standards and safety protocols and be able to wear PPE when required.

Responsibilities include floor care, waste collection, and restorative cleaning of vacant rooms, reporting maintenance needs, and participating in safety training and team meetings.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Perform routine cleaning tasks in residential hall bathrooms and common areas, including laundry rooms, stairwells, corridors, and lounges. Follow approved cleaning standards, chemical usage, and equipment as assigned. Follow approved methods for removal of blood-borne pathogens and bodily fluids.

Perform routine floor care of various floor coverings, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, spot treatment and carpet extraction. Safely operate automatic scrubbers, power sweepers (including rider-type), vacuums and buffers used in connection with building cleaning.

Perform restorative project work during times of low building occupancy, including deep cleaning vacant student rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. Perform restorative cleaning of floor surfaces, including the stripping and application of finish, scrubbing, scraping, and buffing.

Collect and remove waste from building common areas, sort recyclable materials, and discard in outdoor collection bins. Maintain operational supplies and chemicals in custodial closets and carts as needed.

Respond to housekeeping calls and/or requests for service as needed. Report all items that require maintenance/repair. Participate in job related training and team meetings including monthly staff meetings, annual safety training, and departmental and community events as required.

Perform other duties as assigned. High school graduation or G.E.D. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment as necessary. Ability to read English.

Compensation Pay Range: $12.86 - $21.11 The pay range for this position is listed above. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
