Job summary

SUN Behavioral Houston is seeking a PRN Environmental Services Technician to support hospital cleanliness and safety. You will perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, care units and common areas, ensuring compliance with infection prevention protocols.

Responsibilities include handling supplies, disposing of waste, and reporting maintenance needs to supervisors. Requirements: high school diploma or GED, CPR and de-escalation certification; prior related experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification required.
  • 1–3 months related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine cleaning of hospital areas, including patient rooms, patient care units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways.
  • Washes windows, walls, floors, beds, furniture upon patient discharge.
  • Applies clean linen on disinfected patient bed.
  • Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
  • Uses and maintains equipment properly.
  • Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
  • Replenishes supplies.
  • Reports any furniture, fixtures, building, equipment repairs required to supervisor.
  • Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including handwashing techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.
  • Maintains set quality standard when performing job duties.
  • Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as required

Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the facility to meet state regulations. Responds to requests for spot cleaning areas to ensure personal safety of staff and patients. The individual will need to complete position responsibilities by following established guidelines and protocols within the appropriate time frame and must be flexible with his/her work schedule.

Position Responsibilities
Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review)
  • Performs routine cleaning of hospital areas, to include, but are not limited to: patient rooms, patient care units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways
  • Washes windows, walls, floors, beds, furniture upon patient discharge.
  • Applies clean linen on disinfected patient bed.
  • Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
