Base pay range
$31.00/hr - $31.00/hr
Pay: $31/hr.
Position Summary
The Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning the assigned areas of the property. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for carrying out our promise to strengthen the foundations of community with focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility while upholding our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Wet & dry mopping and vacuuming.
- Dusting.
- Removing trash.
- General cleaning.
- Clean windows.
- Sanitize showers, and sauna & whirlpool areas in facilities where those amenities are present.
- Clean empty lockers if applicable to the facility.
- Check for maintenance problems and notify Maintenance Director of the need for simple maintenance tasks such as (but not limited to) changing light bulbs, light painting, etc. to receive further instructions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibility.

- No prior experience or training is required.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to be welcoming to all members and participants while carrying out the responsibilities of the position.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Certifications: CPR/AED, First Aid, Blood borne pathogen training required after hire and must remain current.
