Job summary

Gurwin Healthcare System in Commack, NY, is seeking a full-time Housekeeper to support our 36-acre campus and 460-bed facility. You will be scheduled to work rotating shifts and help create a clean, safe, and dignified environment for all residents across our assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care services.

Responsibilities include operating floor machines, performing heavy lifting, cleaning resident apartments and common areas, and following directions from the Lead Housekeeper.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospital, nursing home or assisted living strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of dementia population and related behaviors.
• Understands written and oral instruction.
• Understands and absorbs new work methods.
• Capable of completing schedules effectively and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas in our Assisted Living Residences.
• Operate floor machines and perform heavy lifting.
• Clean resident apartments and common areas.
• Follow policies and procedures as directed by the Lead Housekeeper.

Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish : Fay J. Lindner Residences) which has 210 beds, our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies.

Our innovative facility and growing services offer opportunities to advance your career. We are currently seeking a full-time Houskeeper who will embody the passion and commitment required to deliver the ultimate care for our residents. You will be scheduled to work rotating schedules.

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 3:00p.m. to 11:15p.m.

Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 3:00p.m. to 11:15p.m.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Experience in using floor machines and heavy lifting.
• Duties include keeping assigned areas of our Assisted Living Residences in a clean, sanitary, safe and orderly condition as directed by the Lead Housekeeper and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining resident apartments and common areas.
• Candidate must have general cleaning knowledge and prior experience.

Requirements include:

• Candidates with experience in a hospital, nursing home or assisted living strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of the dementia population and dealing with related behaviors.
• Understands written and oral instruction.
• Understands and absorbs new work methods.
• Capable of completing schedules effectively and in a timely manner.
• Capable of standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
