Job summary

Otterbein SeniorLife seeks a compassionate Household Assistant for part-time 2nd shift to support residents with meals, meal planning, and light housekeeping. You will help prepare meals, ensure safety, and assist with laundry, while maintaining confidentiality and a respectful, resident-centered approach.

Strong teamwork and a caring attitude are essential as you collaborate with staff to meet residents’ needs. No certification is required and involvement in ongoing training is encouraged.

Qualifications

• No certification required.
• Current high school student who has reached legal age to work.
• Preferred experience with elders, cooking for a family or group of diners, and light housekeeping and laundry.

Responsibilities

• Plan meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
• Seek input from elders on meal planning and preparation.
• Prepare ingredients, meals and snacks; set up tables.
• Ensure food safety and monitor temperatures; maintain cleanliness.
• Inventory and stock supplies; clean rooms, floors, equipment and kitchen.
• Assist with laundry and organize elder’s clothing.
• Maintain confidentiality and respond to inquiries from staff and residents.

Available Shifts: Part-Time 2nd

Pay: Starting at $15.00 based on experience

Responsibilities:

• Help plan appropriate meals according to dietary needs/preferences/medical issues.
• Seek input from elders with meal planning and preparation.
• Prep ingredients; prepare and serve meals and snacks.
• Set up table.
• Ensure the safety and freshness of food; measure and record food temperature.
• Inventory and stock shelves with supplies.
• Clean rooms, floors, equipment, and kitchen to maintain a safe, neat and clean environment.
• Ensure that laundry is completed and returned; help elders put laundry in closet/drawers.
• Maintain confidentiality in relation to all elders, co-workers and documentation.
• Answer phone.
• Participate in scheduled team meetings to set house standards, resolve conflicts, and improve the running of the house.
• Respond to inquiries from staff and elders and work as a team to ensure all needs are being met.

Qualifications:

• Certification: No certification required.
• Education: Current high school student who has reached legal age to work.
• Experience: Preferred experience working with elders, cooking for a family or group of diners or experience with light housekeeping and laundry. No Previous work experience is required.
