Position Summary

As a House Therapist, you will be responsible for providing professional counseling services to individuals, families, and groups at one 10-bed Behavioral Health Residential Facility. Your primary goal will be to support clients in improving their mental health and well-being by utilizing various therapeutic techniques and interventions.

The therapist provides direct support to clients and the Clinical/Operations Team at the facility, and is responsible for evaluating needs, developing treatment plans and goals, monitoring progress, and documenting client progress while at the facility. The therapist works closely with the Clinical Director, case management, and the House Supervisor to develop customized treatment plans and goals.

Essential Functions
  • Provide all therapy-related treatment to clients at one 10-bed Behavioral Health Residential Facility.
  • Conduct initial evaluations, ongoing progress evaluations, and discharge planning for each client.
  • Collaborate closely with family and guardians of the adolescent client while developing and implementing treatment plans and goals.
  • Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director and Chief Clinical Officer frequently.
  • Contact the Clinical Director immediately and then Chief Clinical Officer for any significant client event.
  • Report any unusual client behavior or suspicious activity to the Clinical Director and Chief Clinical Officer.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere strictly to confidentiality requirements.
  • Comply with all Horizon Recovery's policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Conduct individual, family, and group sessions as scheduled with the program.
  • Be available to help address unscheduled, urgent needs of clients that may develop.
  • Ability to set priorities and maintain accurate medical records on each client in accordance with the master treatment plan goals and Horizon Recovery's policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to provide documentation and reports to clinical staff or billing staff when required and necessary.
  • Highly motivated to work with the adolescent population.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques and interventions, and ability to apply them effectively in individual and group settings.
  • Ability to be flexible in developing treatment plans and utilizing a wide range of therapeutic strategies and styles, depending on unique circumstances and client preferences.
  • Proven experience in conducting therapy sessions with diverse populations and addressing a wide range of mental health concerns.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to empathize and establish rapport with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills to accurately identify client needs and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and effectively communicate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Proficient computer skills for maintaining electronic records and utilizing therapy-related software.
Qualifications
  • Must have a Master’s degree or higher in counseling, psychology, or a related licensable field. Associate-level licensed preferred.
  • Current state licensure or certification as a therapist (e.g., Licensed Associate Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.)
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in behavioral health.
  • Work experience with the adolescent population highly preferred.
