Job Summary
Full‑time, Night shift Registered Nurse overseeing patient care on each shift, including weekends and holidays. Responsible for patient throughput and bed placement, assisting with Guest Relations Coordination, and helping facilitate staffing effectiveness, evidence‑based medicine, and professional and technical staff restraint compliance. This position may qualify for a sign‑on bonus.
Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to staff in the absence of the Manager and/or Director or designee.
- Collaborates with all disciplines to coordinate quality patient care.
- Facilitates patient placement and timely throughput to the appropriate care setting.
- Works collaboratively with Unit Shift Managers, providing guidance and direction in daily operations.
- Adheres to and supports hospital and departmental policies and acts as a resource for staff.
- Identifies and intervenes with Human Resources issues, communicating them to the appropriate Director/AOC.
- Participates in disciplinary action of staff, as warranted.
- Assists at month’s end to ensure all renewals of licensure/certification are completed.
- Collaborates with staff to ensure schedules meet Unit needs and minimize the use of agency personnel.
- Reviews appropriateness of specialty bed use to prevent falls and pressure ulcers.
- Rounds in patient rooms, ensuring whiteboards are completed to engage patients and improve inpatient satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Education: Academic degree in nursing (required).
- Preferred: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Nursing or related field (health administration, business, public health, or management).
Experience
- Required: 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full‑time charge nurse/related position.
Certifications
- Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law or regulation in state of practice or policy. AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
