Description

Performs administrative nursing functions during assigned shift, coordinating with unit management. Responsibilities include staffing, admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient care delivery. Has authority to take necessary actions within scope. Provides nursing care per medical regimen and hospital policies. Accountable to the North Carolina Board of Nursing for practice within the Nursing Practice Act.

Responsibilities
  1. Patient Care: Ensures appropriate care and services, participates in Carolina Care rounding, and provides service recovery.
  2. Collaboration: Acts as a contact, resource, and liaison for managers and staff, and advises on hospital policies.
  3. Patient Concerns: Addresses safety concerns of patients, families, and staff.
  4. Occupational Health: Manages fit for duty and needlestick protocols during evening, night, and weekend shifts.
  5. House Supervision: Assists staffing, resolves operational concerns, supervises nursing staff off-hours, responds to emergencies, and supports bed placement decisions.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
  • BCLS, ACLS, CPI certifications (CPI within 1 year of hire), and Notary Public appointment.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and clinical competence.
