Job summary

Unitus Family Services in Hampton, VA is seeking a House Manager to lead the daily operations of a residential group home. You will supervise Direct Support Professionals, coordinate individual healthcare needs, manage household activities, and participate in an on-call rotation to ensure safety and quality of care.

• Ability to remain calm and make responsible decisions during emergencies.
• Dependable, professional, and able to follow through on assigned responsibilities.
• Basic computer and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Help create staff schedules and secure coverage for open shifts.
• Monitor staff attendance, performance, and required training.
• Conduct and document monthly staff meetings.
• Meet with the Program Director every week.
• Coordinate medical, dental, behavioral health, and follow-up appointments.
• Arrange transportation and assign staff to attend appointments.
• Follow up on physician orders, referrals, prescriptions, and recommendations.
• Monitor medications, medical supplies, hygiene products, and other individual needs.
• Help ensure each individual's health, safety, dignity, and personal choices are supported.
• Create the monthly house calendar and activity schedule.
• Prepare menus and complete weekly grocery orders.
• Maintain adequate food, cleaning products, and household supplies.
• Coordinate meaningful household and community activities.
• Monitor the cleanliness, safety, and overall condition of the home.
• Report maintenance, vehicle, equipment, and supply needs.
• Report serious incidents, injuries, hospital visits, medication errors, and emergencies.
• Assist with DBHDS reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Participate in the agency’s rotating on-call schedule.
• Respond to staff call-outs and urgent situations.
• Help secure shift coverage and report to the home when needed.
• Provide direct support or work an uncovered shift when necessary.

Unitus Family Services is looking for a dependable and organized House Manager to lead the daily operations of one of our residential group homes.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can guide staff, keep the home organized, coordinate individuals' needs, and respond confidently when challenges arise. If you care about helping people live safe, meaningful, and independent lives, we would like to meet you.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As House Manager, you will supervise Direct Support Professionals and help ensure individuals receive consistent, person-centered care. You will work closely with the Program Director and serve as an important connection between staff, families, healthcare providers, and other members of the support team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Leadership and Staffing

• Supervise, train, coach, and support Direct Support Professionals.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
• Residential group-home or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make responsible decisions during emergencies.
• Dependable, professional, and able to follow through on assigned responsibilities.
• Basic computer and documentation skills.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS

• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain it.
• Medication Administration certification or ability to obtain it.
• Approved behavioral management certification or ability to obtain it.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than two demerit points and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass required background checks and screenings.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and participate in an evening, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation.
• Ability to transport individuals and provide direct support when needed.
