Job summary

Omaha Performing Arts is seeking a House Manager to support event operations across our venues. You will supervise FOH staff and volunteers, ensure smooth patron experiences, and partner with security and production teams.

The role requires excellent communication, willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs and move about venues. Prior supervisory or hospitality experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • One year or more of supervisory experience in a service-related, hospitality, event or volunteer coordinating setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional and welcoming manner with patrons, employees, volunteers and artists.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Implements house management processes and coordinates FOH staff and volunteers for events.
  • Conducts Ambassador briefing before each performance based on FOH form information.
  • Conducts regular rounds during all phases of events and performances.
  • Assists in mediating, reporting, and managing patron concerns related to other patrons, Box Office matters, ADA accommodations, and FOH policies.
  • Provides direct support and communication to security and first responders for emergencies.
  • Communicates across departments regarding patron and production needs during events.
  • Identifies and reports FOH issues for resolution, including safety, policy, security, and food and beverage concerns.
  • Maintains positive relationships with volunteers, staff, patrons, and artists.
  • Maintains an active and flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by event needs.
  • Required to work both indoor and outdoor events and performances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Join Omaha Performing Arts as a House Manager and play a key role in creating exceptional experiences for our patrons, volunteers, and artists. This position combines event operations, volunteer leadership, customer service, and problem-solving to help ensure performances run smoothly across our venues. Position Summary

Assists with the management and training of volunteer "Ambassador" staff and provides front-of-house (FOH) support for all events in the Orpheum Theater, Holland Performing Arts Center (HPAC), Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement (TCAE), and other off-site venues as needed.

Position Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assists in mediating, reporting, and managing patron concerns related to other patrons, Box Office matters, ADA accommodations, O-pa policies, and patron services.
  • Provides direct support and communication to/with security and first responders for all emergency situations.
  • Communicates across departments regarding patron and production needs during events.
  • Identifies and reports FOH issues for resolution, including safety, policy, security, and food and beverage concerns.
  • Maintains positive relationships with volunteers, staff, patrons, and artists.
  • Maintains an active and flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and holidays as required by event needs.
  • Required to work both indoor and outdoor events and performances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
  • One (1) year, or more, of supervisory experience in a service-related, hospitality, event or volunteer coordinating setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional and welcoming manner when working with all patrons, employees, volunteers, and artists.
  • Emergency preparedness and situational awareness training or experience, preferred.
  • Ability to take initiative to identify and solve problems using good judgment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in customer service and active listening techniques.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Requires scheduling flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be available for a minimum number of event shifts per month, as determined by department needs.
  • Basic understanding of ADA compliance and accommodation coordination preferred; training will be provided.
Minimum Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move easily up and down stairs.
  • The noise level at public events is moderate to loud.
