The Houseperson is responsible for assisting Room Attendants on the heavy lifting of the guest room and/or suite cleaning services, and delivering and retrieving items requested to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Practice OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and comply with all company safety policies and procedures
- Assist Room Attendants with heavy items such as mattresses and linens (i.e. stripping linens from mattresses)
- Remove all dirty linens from assigned Room Attendants’ carts and closet to transport to laundry area throughout the day
- Deliver fresh linens and other cart supplies to Room Attendants throughout the day
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of floor closets and vending areas: remove the trash, wipe down shelves/counters; sweep and wax the floor, remove non-floor closet items and store in appropriate areas
- Respond to guests’ requests such as the delivery of housekeeping supplies (i.e. linens, cots, etc.) in a timely and efficient manner
- Clean other areas such as public restrooms, fixtures, vending areas, storage areas and other public areas for assigned floors
- Report to supervisor needed repairs or unsafe conditions
- Respond to guest complaints and ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction
- Monitor and control supplies and amenities, and minimize waste within all areas of housekeeping
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
- May collect newspaper and other items for recycling
- May regularly assist with deep cleaning projects and/or meeting setups and takedowns as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Some housekeeping experience in a hotel environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility
- Frequently working in areas of high temperatures around heavy equipment
- Ability to carry, push, move and lift large, bulky and/or heavy objects up to 50 pounds and pulling items up to 100 pounds
- Ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, walking, repetitive bending, and other physical activities
Job Type: Part- Time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
