Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking an Hourly Cafeteria Worker (Substitute) for the 2026-2027 school year. Assignments occur in on-site school cafeterias under the Food & Nutrition Office. Duties include cashiering, serving, dining room cleaning, and product receiving/storage.

Paid training is provided through the Food & Nutrition Department. Opportunities exist for promotion to permanent part-time positions, though substitutes do not receive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Perform cashier and serving duties.

Hourly Cafeteria Worker (Substitute) duties include:

Choose the school in which you wish to work!

$16.86 per hour

Shifts will range between the hours of 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM; no more than 3.75 hours per day.

All candidates are required to lift 40 pounds and able to meet health department personal hygiene standards.

Promotional opportunities to permanent part-time positions ($17.06 per hour) are available and require prior substitute experience. Substitute and permanent part-time positions are not eligible to receive benefits.
