Job summary

Sheraton New York Times Square is seeking a skilled hotel painter responsible for maintaining walls, ceilings, and wood finishes in guest and public areas. You will apply paints, primers, and sealers, prepare surfaces, and protect areas during work to uphold brand standards.

The role requires strong communication, physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and flexibility to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Technical, Trade, or Vocational school degree or equivalent work-related experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to push and pull carts and equipment.
• Ability to bend, squat and lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility.
• Ability to multi-task.
• A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach.
• A flexible schedule that includes days, nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, and furniture using brushes, spray guns, or rollers while maintaining color scheme specifications.
• Apply primers or sealers to prepare surfaces for finish coats.
• Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water and abrasive blasting.
• Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper for protection during painting and posting appropriate paint signs.
• Clean up and store paint and tools in appropriate areas.
• Coordinate with vendors to adjust colors using oil, thinning, and drying additives to achieve desired colors and consistencies.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
• Ensure storage of flammable materials in OSHA/EPA approved containment devices.
• Respond to guest questions and requests using brand procedures to resolve issues and build trust.
• Welcome guests with a smile and friendly greeting, using guest name when possible.
• Speak to guests and co-workers using clear, professional language.
• Exchange information with team members using electronic devices.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.
