Job summary

Hyatt Place Flushing/LaGuardia Airport is seeking a Hotel Maintenance Technician to ensure proper operation and safety of all hotel facilities. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and minimizing downtime to preserve guest comfort and asset longevity.

Experience with Hyatt BOB is preferred but not required; the position supports a fast-paced hospitality environment with on-call coverage and opportunities for hands-on training within the Engineering team.

Qualifications

• Experience as a maintenance engineer in hospitality preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with maintenance management software, Hyatt BOB a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on hotel systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, elevators, kitchen equipment, guest room appliances).
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues promptly.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and costs.
• Collaborate with Engineering to plan capital improvement projects.
• Respond to guest and staff maintenance requests with minimal disruption.
• Ensure safety codes and environmental standards are followed.

Job Title: Hotel Maintenance Technician
Location: Hyatt Place Flushing/LaGuardia Airport Hotel
Reports To: Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering

Position Summary

The Hotel Maintenance Technician ensures the proper functioning, safety, and efficiency of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems through proactive maintenance, inspections, and repairs. This role emphasizes preventive measures to minimize downtime, extend the life of assets, and maintain an exceptional guest experience. Experience with Hyatt's BOB platform is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, elevators, kitchen equipment, and guest room appliances.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues promptly.
• Implement and maintain preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment failures and emergency repairs.
• Collaborate with the Engineering team to plan and execute capital improvement projects.
• Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
• Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies necessary for preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Provide guidance and training to junior engineering staff, as needed.
• Utilize maintenance management systems, such as Hyatt BOB, if available, to track work orders and generate reports.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a maintenance engineer, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with maintenance management software preferred (Hyatt BOB platform a plus).
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Relevant certifications or technical training in mechanical, electrical, or facilities maintenance preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials.
• Capability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying temperatures.
• Manual dexterity and stamina for extended periods of physical work.
