Job summary

Axiom Hotel in San Francisco is seeking a skilled Maintenance Manager to lead the Engineering/Maintenance team on-site. You will oversee preventive maintenance, manage vendors, and ensure reliable operation of building systems to minimize downtime and guest disruption.

Ideal candidates have at least three years of post‑high school education (or equivalent experience), fluency in English, and experience reading drawings, blueprints, and using hand/power tools.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
• Minimum three years post high school education, or equivalent work experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Must have a valid driver’s license for the state.
• Familiar with OSHA SB198, local health regs, and related laws for hazardous substances.
• Trained in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems common to hotel properties.
• Prefer at least two years’ experience at a resort or hotel.

Responsibilities

• Research and interview vendors to obtain best price and availability of maintenance supplies.
• Review and prioritize daily work orders.
• Oversee and administer preventive maintenance programs to ensure reliable operation of systems and minimize downtime.
• Participate in regular property-wide inspections.
• Schedule, coordinate, and inspect rooms-related Preventative Maintenance, refurbishments, and public area projects.
• Act as hotel liaison with contractors for major rehabilitation projects and additions.
• Follow procedures to handle cash.
• Monitor service quality via guest feedback and mystery shopper programs.
• Monitor utility consumption and hotel allocations of energy sources.
• Lead the team to maintain productivity and morale.
• Purchase supplies and plans for the department.
• Train staff on SOPs and ensure compliance.
• Complete payroll and timekeeping logs to spec.
