Job summary

Jay Peak in Vermont is seeking a Hotel Maintenance Laborer to support upkeep, cleanliness, and basic maintenance of resort buildings, grounds, and equipment.

This entry-level, full-time role reports to the Maintenance Manager and assists technicians with routine tasks and preventative maintenance while delivering excellent guest service.

Qualifications

  • Basic reading and comprehension of instructions, memos and notes.
  • Able to perform basic math operations including rates, ratios and percentages.
  • Reasoning to apply common sense and solve problems.
  • Basic computer navigation and internet use.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks and document work.
  • Assist technicians and supervisors with repairs, installations, and maintenance projects.
  • Clean maintenance areas, storage spaces and work environments.
  • Paint interior/exterior surfaces and perform light maintenance tasks.
  • Move materials and assist with inventory deliveries and storage.
  • Support other departments with labor-related tasks as needed.

This entry-level position works under the direction of the Hotel Maintenance Manager and assists Hotel Maintenance Technicians with routine tasks, preventative maintenance activities, and general labor duties while providing excellent guest serviceESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)Perform basic preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as assigned and document completed work.Assist Maintenance Technicians and supervisors with repairs, installations, and maintenance projects.Clean maintenance shops, mechanical rooms, storage areas, and other building spaces, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and general housekeeping.Paint interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, trim, and other facility areas.Remove trash and debris from resort property and designated disposal areas.Perform snow removal and ice control activities, including shoveling, salting, and clearing walkways.Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials as requested.Assist with unloading, receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries and inventory.Assist with basic building maintenance tasks, including replacing light bulbs, filters, and other minor components.Support other departments with labor-related projects as needed.Follow all safety policies and procedures.Maintain a clean and organized work environment.Provide courteous and professional service to guests and fellow team members.Complete work assignments as directed by the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor.Perform other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has not supervisory responsibilities.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Prior maintenance, construction, landscaping, or custodial experience is helpful but not required. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
