Job summary

Jay Peak Resort in Vermont is seeking a full-time, year-round Housekeeping Supervisor to lead cleaning operations across guest rooms and accommodations. You will recruit, train, and coach staff, monitor standards, and manage schedules, inventories, and budgets to ensure top-notch guest experiences.

You'll work in a winter resort environment with varied duties, including safety, collaboration with other departments, and ensuring rooms meet resort cleanliness standards before occupancy.

Qualifications

  • One year certification from college or technical school; or 3–6 months related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new Room Attendants.
  • Provide coaching on safe work practices and department standards.
  • Prepare and monitor housekeeping schedules, labor standards, and budgets.
  • Take monthly inventories of linen, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Prepare supply requisitions and control usage of supplies.
  • Maintain housekeeping staff timecards.
  • Build positive interdepartmental relationships to reach goals.
  • Ensure room doors are secured and resort regulations followed.
  • Inspect rooms and assist with maintenance where needed.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning work day, directing work load, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Reporting to Manager any serious employee problems.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
