Job description

Join to apply for the Hotel Maintenance/Engineer II (Full Time) role at Terranea Resort.

Responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property with regards to all aspects of basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical and painting work. Complete maintenance request work orders from all departments on a timely basis. Participate in the preventive maintenance program for all building equipment and rooms. Complete other special projects assigned periodically by the Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  2. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  3. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  4. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  5. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  6. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  7. Receive daily work assignments from Director of Engineering/Manager and review priorities and special projects.
  8. Organize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignments.
  9. Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
  10. Check work orders and night report for any problems. Make rounds checking these problem areas and note any information needed or safety concerns in the resort.
  11. Schedule work in accordance with preventive maintenance program in rooms, coordinating with the Executive Housekeeper and Front Office.
  12. Perform electrical work orders: Replace light switches, reset circuit breakers, replace wall plug receptacles, replace fluorescent light ballast, use test equipment like ohm-meter, voltage tester, amp probe.
  13. Perform plumbing work orders: Unplug sinks, toilets, garbage disposals and drain lines; repair or replace valves, gaskets, vacuum breakers, toilet seals; work with different types of pipe including conduit, copper, black, cast iron and pipe hangers.
  14. Perform Preventive Maintenance work orders: Monitor and maintain laundry and kitchen equipment; maintain guestrooms using Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program Punch List; change air-conditioning filters every 3 months; check HVAC equipment and perform necessary repairs; change or repair locks; test emergency generator weekly.
  15. Perform general maintenance to guestrooms and public areas.
  16. Assist electrician, carpenter, plumber and painter in all repair work phases.
  17. Assist other engineering personnel as instructed by the Manager.
  18. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area, including inventories, requisitions, trash removal and cleanup.
  19. Maintain proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools.
  20. Handle chemicals properly for designated uses/surfaces.
  21. Ensure security of assigned keys.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with special projects and room maintenance tasks such as switch and outlet replacements, rewiring, caulking, furniture repair.
  • Assume duties of Duty Engineer, including rounds and equipment checks.
  • Attend department and staff meetings.
  • Recommend energy saving and safety ideas; participate in fire prevention and safety programs.
  • Perform cleaning and painting as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial electricity, HVAC, and refrigeration.
  • Working knowledge of electrical supplies, equipment, blueprints, wiring schematics, and tools.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to interpret technical literature, organize tasks, focus on details, operate lifts, prioritize, and work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation

Base Pay Start Rate: $28.46/Hr.
