Job summary

Courtyard by Marriott Newark Downtown is seeking a capable Maintenance Engineer to uphold cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction across the property. You will perform routine repairs, follow safety guidelines, and assist with preventative maintenance while delivering hospitality with a smile.

The role requires a positive attitude, 2+ years in similar settings, and flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of work-related experience in a commercial facility, hospitality or related field preferred.
• Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Must be able to understand and follow established guidelines and procedures.
• Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
• Listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving concerns of co-workers and guests.
• Must convey information clearly to others.
• Must have hospitality and guest service mindset.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be willing to work a varied schedule including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and use names to enhance welcome and service.
• Maintain clean, organized workspaces front and back of house.
• Follow checklists and ensure accurate handovers between shifts.
• Respond to repair requests and document completion via electronic work order.
• Ensure safety/health codes are followed and report emergencies.
• Conduct full property walks at schedule start and end; note needs.
