Job summary

Courtyard by Marriott - Petoskey, Michigan is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep guest rooms, public spaces, and building systems in peak condition.

You will conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and projects, log work in our maintenance software, and support safety, energy, and guest comfort initiatives.

This role requires physical stamina, reliability, and the ability to work weekends or holidays as needed.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on facilities maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Facility Walk-Throughs & Inspections – assess systems for safe, efficient operation.
  • Preventive Maintenance & Energy Management – run and track maintenance programs.
  • Repairs & Projects – complete and verify repairs in guest rooms and spaces.
  • Plumbing & Mechanical Work – install, inspect, and repair plumbing/mechanical systems.
  • Grounds & Public Area Care – maintain exterior areas and public spaces.
  • Pool & Facility Monitoring – daily testing and safety checks.
  • Reporting & Communication – log work and inform leadership on condition.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Facility Walk-Throughs & Inspections – Regularly assess the building structure, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and related systems to ensure safe, efficient operation.
  • Preventive Maintenance & Energy Management – Operate and maintain preventive maintenance and energy programs in line with brand and company standards.
  • Repairs & Projects – Assign, complete, and verify repairs, renovations, and special projects in guest rooms, offices, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Plumbing & Mechanical Work – Install, inspect, clean, and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, pipes, and related equipment.
  • Grounds & Public Area Care – Maintain exterior areas, landscaping, parking lots, stairwells, and maintenance spaces to keep the property attractive and safe.
  • Pool & Facility Monitoring – Conduct daily testing and monitoring of pool and whirlpool systems to ensure compliance and guest safety.
  • Reporting & Communication – Maintain logs and records, generate reports, and keep leadership informed on the overall condition of the property.
