Position: Area Chief Engineer

Job Description:

The Area Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing, directing, and managing the Maintenance departments across multiple hotels in the West Texas region. This role requires significant travel to support various properties, ensuring each hotel maintains a safe, appealing, and efficient Maintenance Department.

Required Skills and Requisites:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in Maintenance Engineering
  • HVAC certification

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure an adequate inventory of parts, supplies, tools, and materials for the department.
  • Enforce hotel and company policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly department meetings.
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Maintain all hotel emergency systems and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Solicit and oversee subcontractor work when needed.
  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets for payroll, expenses, utilities, and capital improvements.
  • Operate within budget guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain an efficient inventory and purchasing system.
  • Obtain three quotes for all hotel expenses before approval.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Serve as a resource for all hotel departments.
  • Keep accurate records of all Preventive Maintenance activities.
  • Maintain hotel facilities and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Participate in the hotel's Safety Committee.
  • Communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken.
  • Climb ladders and stairs as required.
  • Operate and understand advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
  • Learn new skills and adapt to changing environments.
  • Read and interpret test equipment, blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical parts breakdowns.
  • Write technical specifications.
  • Plan and conduct effective meetings.
  • Assist in managing operating budgets.
  • Work 50+ hours per week and be available for regional travel.

  • Flexibility to travel frequently within the West Texas region.
