Job summary

Austin Lakeway Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, is seeking a Hotel Maintenance Engineer to respond quickly to service requests and maintain critical systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and boiler equipment.

You will read blueprints, coordinate with electricians and carpenters, follow safety codes, and uphold high standards of guest service. A vocational or related degree and proven hotel maintenance experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general building systems experience.
• Vocational training or associate degree with applicable certifications/licensure.
• Ability to operate and maintain electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High work ethic and self-initiative.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls within 30 minutes of the call receipt.
• Identify defects, troubleshoot malfunctions, and take corrective action; document on work orders.
• Follow departmental procedures for repairs, maintenance, alterations and installations.
• Comply with all applicable codes, laws and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with electricians, carpenters, painters and other staff to complete work.

Job Description

What you will be doing

• Respond to all service calls within half hour from time call is received.
• Determine defects, trouble-shoot malfunctions, take immediate necessary corrective action if guest related/top priority or scheduled for completion within 2 days and record same on the departmental work order form.
• Follow specific departmental procedures in efficiently performing repair, maintenance, alteration and installation work.
• Comply with the latest local, county, state and federal governmental codes, laws and requirements.
• Coordinate with other department personnel such as electrician, carpenter, painter and night engineer in completing service, replacement, alteration and new installation work.

Requirements

What we are looking for

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required
• Understand and efficiently maintain and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• High work ethic and self-initiative.
