Job summary

Lakeway Resort and Spa is seeking a full-time Hotel Engineer to maintain and repair complex building systems at our Austin, Texas property. You will handle HVAC, electrical, plumbing and related equipment, ensuring safe, reliable operations and adherence to codes.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, blueprint reading, coordination with other trades, and a proactive, communicative approach to guest-focused maintenance.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction.
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required.
• Understand and efficiently maintain and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• High work ethic and self-initiative.

Responsibilities

• Respond to all service calls within half hour from time call is received.
• Determine defects, trouble-shoot malfunctions, take immediate corrective action if guest related or top priority or scheduled for completion within 2 days and record on the work order form.
• Follow specific departmental procedures in efficiently performing repair, maintenance, alteration and installation work.
• Comply with local, county, state and federal codes and requirements.
• Coordinate with other department personnel such as electrician, carpenter, painter and night engineer for service, replacement, alteration and new installation work.
