JOB SUMMARY:The Bartender is responsible for the service of beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Also to prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests.POSITION AUTHORITY:The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.POSITION GUIDELINES:Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company's business operationsThe position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can multitask with ease, and maintains a positive attitude under pressureMaintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basisResponsible for the maintaining of stock, cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to insure product qualityGreet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promoting and documenting drink ordersMixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion controlInputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest to maintain accountability of all beverages servedAny and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody GardensEDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma preferredSome Bartending experience or education requiredAbility to obtain TABC & Food Handlers CertificationREQUIRED SKILLS:Must be reliable and responsibleMust have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beveragesStrong communication skillsMust have a strong knowledge of various drinks, the ability to manage bar inventory effectivelyBasic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 50 poundsSufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stockAbility to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods of time
