SUMMARY: The Lead Bartender oversees the hotel’s pool bar, ensuring excellent service, drink quality, and safety. Responsibilities include staff supervision, scheduling, inventory, and supporting training. Strong leadership and multitasking skills are essential in this fast-paced, guest-focused environment.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: (Specific areas of responsibility including, but not limited to)

  • Trains and mentors new Hotel Bartenders to ensure consistency in service and performance.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and consistently demonstrates professionalism with Guests and Team Members.
  • Opens and closes the pool bar venue according to scheduled shifts and operational standards.
  • Orders, stocks, and manages bar inventory to ensure adequate supply and product rotation.
  • Develop and post staff schedules in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure Bartenders receive all required training and have the knowledge and tools to meet performance expectations.
  • Provides supervision, support, and daily guidance to Bartenders; escalates coaching or corrective action needs to the Hotel Operations Manager.
  • Prepares and serves food and beverage items following approved recipes, portion guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the bar area and equipment; performs routine cleaning and maintenance as needed.
  • Stays informed about resort amenities and offerings to accurately answer Guest questions.
  • Protects Guest and company information by adhering to all privacy policies and procedures.
  • Immediately reports accidents, emergencies, injuries, or safety hazards to management.
  • Completes shift reports, including documentation of incidents, theft, or injuries as required.
  • Attend departmental meetings and required training sessions.
  • Participates in special projects, committees, and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Accurately handles cash, makes change, processes credit card transactions, and operates from an assigned cash bank in compliance with company procedures.
  • Takes Guest orders and delivers food and beverages in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations related to the service of alcoholic beverages.
  • Ensures all Bartenders and Bar Backs are trained and current with Black Oak Casino Resort’s Alcohol Service Program and that the department adheres strictly to all State ABC requirements.
  • Cooperates with multiple departments to effectively monitor and control the sale and service of all alcoholic beverages in the area where assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent highly preferred.
  • Must complete Food Handler or ServSafe and Responsible Alcohol Service certification or have proof of current certification.
  • Must be able to lead by example and assist Team Members on assigned shift.
  • Must possess ability to communicate and follow directions effectively in English.
  • Must possess ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment often doing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have ability to learn and operate point-of-sale system.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid gaming license.
  • Must provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.

Physical Demands

  • Must be physically able to perform all job requirements.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds and occasionally more with assistance.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
