Job summary

Professional Hampton Inn and Suites Columbus Downtown is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general hotel maintenance and maintenance tasks essential to guest comfort. You will assist with preventive maintenance, repairs on electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and fixtures, and keep equipment and pool systems in good condition.

This role includes weekend and holiday shifts and requires a professional demeanor and strong guest relations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Able to communicate well with guests.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance work to meet hotel maintenance quality standards.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and complete work orders (e.g., replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs).
  • Check electrical systems and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Assist in major repairs of hotel equipment including HVAC, plumbing, appliances and fixtures.
  • Service hotel pool as applicable and maintain logs.
  • Maintain exterior and curb appeal (snow removal, lawn care, painting).
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures in guest rooms and repaint as needed.
  • Respond courteously to guest questions and requests; ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Work weekends and holidays as assigned; follow safety policies and attend to tasks.

Job Title: Maintenance Hotel/Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Chief Engineer FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Objective: Perform general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained.

Key Areas of Accountability:

  • Assist with preventive maintenance and complete reported work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.
  • Perform preventive maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis (e.g. "room care").
  • Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets and lighting systems, and make minor repairs and/or replacement.
  • Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all hotel equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, pool equipment, HVAC, hand and power tools, and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment.
  • Service the hotel's pool if applicable, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters, and completing maintenance request forms and record logs.
  • Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (i.e. snow removal, lawn care, painting, and gardening).
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed.
  • Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
  • Be prepared for exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works weekend and holiday shifts as assigned.
  • Ensures proper use and care of all property equipment and supplies.
  • Carries out all reasonable requests of management not listed above.
  • Follows all hotel and state/federal safety policies and regulations.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Climbing, reading, standing for entire shift, walking and routinely lifting 25 lbs to 75 lbs-occasionally lifting over 75 lbs.

The employee should be able to move around and work with others in a small, confined area. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
