Job Summary
Front Desk Agents are responsible for greeting and registering guests, providing outstanding guest service during their stay, and settling the guest's account upon completion of their stay. Primary responsibilities include registering guests, making and modifying reservations, and performing hotel operator and concierge duties. They should provide attentive, courteous, and efficient service to all guests prior to arrival and throughout their stay, while maximizing room revenue and occupancy.
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in a related field is helpful.
- Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Possess a positive and upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and problem-solve effectively.
- Clear communication skills to convey information and ideas.
- Ability to evaluate and choose among alternative actions quickly and accurately.
- Work well under stress and in high-pressure situations.
- Effective at handling workplace problems, including anticipating, preventing, and resolving issues.
- Good listening skills to understand and clarify issues raised by co-workers and guests.
- Ability to understand financial information and perform basic arithmetic functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to work varied schedules including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Understanding of hotel products and guest services (lifestyle, full service, resort, etc.).
- Ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
Job Duties & Functions
- Approach all guests and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and name tag.
- Maintain regular attendance as per hotel standards.
- Comply with all hotel policies, standards, and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
- Greet and welcome guests at the Front Desk warmly and professionally.
- Operate the telephone switchboard properly and meet performance standards.
- Handle requests for information, mail, and messages courteously and efficiently.
- Answer guest inquiries about hotel services, facilities, and hours of operation.
- Provide information about local restaurants, transportation, entertainment, etc.
- Foster good communication and teamwork with colleagues and other departments.
- Be aware of rates, packages, promotions, in-house groups, and reservation restrictions.
- Gather necessary information for room reservations and follow rate quoting procedures.
- Familiarize with all hotel policies, house rules, and hospitality terminology.
- Know emergency procedures and assist as needed.
- Handle check-ins and check-outs courteously and efficiently.
- Operate all relevant Front Desk computer systems competently.
- Ensure proper logging and delivery of packages, mail, and messages.
- Use proper radio etiquette when communicating with team members.
- Assist with delivering guest items such as luggage, newspapers, and amenities.
- Stay informed about property amenities, events, local attractions, and things to do around the hotel.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in other hotel areas, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safety throughout the hotel and grounds.
