Job summary

Best Western Plus Hacienda Hotel Old Town is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to handle preventive maintenance, guest repair requests, and inventory control. You will troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other systems while coordinating with hotel leadership to ensure guest satisfaction.

The role emphasizes a balance of independent work and team coordination, with opportunities to perform routine maintenance and uphold safety standards across guest areas and staff spaces.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in hotel or property maintenance.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance best practices.
• Comfortable using hand tools and reading technical manuals or schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and operate in indoor/outdoor settings.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Respond to guest maintenance requests and internal work orders.
• Conduct daily property walk-throughs and complete duty rounds.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal operation of equipment and systems.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of maintenance spaces and affected guest/public areas during repairs.
• Install, maintain, and repair appliances, light fixtures, door hardware, and more.
• Check safety systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting, ventilation).
• Support outdoor upkeep and minor landscaping tasks.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for external support when needed.
• Communicate major repairs or safety concerns to the Director of Engineering and GM.
