Job summary

Hyatt Regency Schaumburg in Schaumburg, IL is seeking a proactive Chief Engineer to lead our property engineering team, oversee maintenance operations, and ensure safety, reliability, and guest comfort across all hotel systems.

You will manage staffing, budgeting, compliance with OSHA and brand standards, and drive continuous improvement through preventive maintenance, energy initiatives, and leadership development.

Qualifications

• Experience leading hotel engineering or maintenance teams.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, life safety, fire protection, and HVAC operations.
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and develop maintenance staff in hospitality.
• Effective communicator with strong organizational and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with safety and compliance standards (OSHA and local codes).
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Manage repairs and routine maintenance of hotel systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical).
• Oversee inventory, procurement, budgeting, safety compliance, and inspections/certifications.
• Ensure accommodations meet safety standards and provide a secure environment for guests and associates.
• Hire, train, motivate, and evaluate engineering staff; promote growth and accountability.
• Maintain compliance with Concord Hospitality and brand standards and protocols.
• Communicate with General Manager, corporate leaders, and ownership about conditions and needs.
• Lead safety programs, preventive maintenance, and energy conservation initiatives.
• Support Leadership Development Training and contribute to a culture of growth.
