Job summary

Hyatt seeks a Director of Engineering in Houston to lead maintenance for the hotel, ensuring high standards of operation and safety. The role reports to the General Manager and interfaces with corporate leadership on capital projects.

The candidate will supervise maintenance staff, manage vendor contracts, and drive cost control while maintaining guest room and public area facilities. Strong leadership, English communication, and proficiency in MS Word/Excel are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in progressive hotel or building management, typically with Hyatt
• Senior role experience in facility management
• Proven leadership and customer service orientation
• English communication skills; proficient with MS Word/Excel

Responsibilities

• Review contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to commercial agreements with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
• Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects
• Coordinate with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve issues
• Interpret plans and contract terms for staff and clients
• Plan, organize, and direct maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems
• Prepare and submit budgets and cost tracking reports
• Develop and implement quality control programs
• Inspect projects for compliance with building and safety codes
• Collaborate with code officials, planning/zoning, and community design committees as required
• Manage utility systems experience
• Oversee equipment purchasing
• Maintain communications with Corporate staff
• Coach staff to reflect Hyatt service standards
