Job summary

CMC Hotels is seeking an experienced, hands-on Chief Maintenance Engineer to lead our Engineering/Maintenance Department at the Cary property. This role oversees preventative maintenance, safety, and operation of building systems to uphold brand standards.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and budget management are essential as you work with hotel management to keep guest rooms and public areas safe, functional, and guest-ready at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel, apartment, or commercial property maintenance; hotel maintenance preferred.
• Supervisory or maintenance leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems.
• Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and decide if repairs can be done in-house or by contractors.
• CPO certification preferred or ability to obtain; CFC/EPA preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily operation of the Engineering/Maintenance Department and direct maintenance staff.
• Inspect hotel facilities, guest rooms, and public areas to identify maintenance and safety needs.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
• Perform general repairs (drywall, painting, carpentry, fixtures, locks, doors).
• Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs to protect assets and minimize downtime.
• Prioritize and complete daily work orders and guest maintenance requests promptly.
• Monitor expenses, control costs, and operate within the maintenance budget.
• Coordinate with vendors/contractors for repairs and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and local codes; oversee emergencies as needed.
• Maintain logs and records of maintenance activities and inspections.
