Job summary

Courtyard by Marriott Orem University Place is seeking a Hotel Chief Maintenance Engineer to lead the hotel engineering department. You will supervise staff, ensure reliable operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems, and manage budgets and inventory.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in maintenance, a willingness to work AM hours, and on-call coverage including nights and weekends. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience required.
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a PLUS.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day operations of the hotel engineering department; train, mentor, and supervise colleagues.
• Attaining hotel and departmental goals and adhering to company standards.
• Oversee maintenance operations for hotel systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pools, etc.).
• Respond or perform duties of a groundskeeper including snow removal.
• Order tools, parts and materials; manage inventory.
• Maintain maintenance records and track expenses; prepare annual budget.
• After hours on-call availability; nights and weekends.

Position is full-time. Schedule is typically AM hours, Monday-Friday, unless otherwise dictated by the needs of the hotel. Bilingual Spanish/English is a PLUS. Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience required.

Essential Functions

• Day-to-day operations of the hotel engineering department (Train, mentor, counsel and discipline colleagues.)


• Attaining hotel and departmental goals and adhering to company standards


• Supervising, developing and maintaining ongoing maintenance operation for hotel, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, hotel rooms, HVAC units, ice machines, pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, etc.


• Respond or perform duties of a groundskeeper including snow removal.


• Ordering tools, parts and materials; managing inventory


• Maintain all maintenance records and accurate tracking of expenses, both costs and capital items; prepares annual maintenance budget.


• After hours on-call availability if an issue arises; available nights and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent


• At least 3 year of experience performing engineering/general maintenance duties; engineering management or supervisory experience a plus


• Technical certifications in electrical, plumbing or other related fields are a plus.
